The second-hand marketplace Members Express Frustration Regarding Sizing Changes
Members of the platform have expressed outrage after an update resulted in items being listed as the wrong size.
The second-hand shopping app has revised its size classifications for female and kids' apparel failing to inform all shoppers about the modification.
Online Platforms Reaction
Many shoppers and sellers are posting online claiming that product pages now present an altered size classification versus the original listing as a result of the reclassification.
The platform stated the updated approach better aligns with similar services.
It has advised users to check their listings and manually change the size when needed, resulting in member annoyance.
Measurement Approach Updates
Previously, the sizing featured a single numeric size and a letter, for instance S/8 or M/10.
The new system has a letter and a range for example S/UK 8-10.
With some products, the sizing has been recategorised - for example a size L used to be a 12 but currently displays as UK 16-18.
User Stories
A fashion influencer, who makes TikTok content about plus-size fashion, explained the modification "makes transactions more difficult".
"Not many brands say XL is a 20-22," the way the service now categorizes.
Another user, based in Glasgow, said garments she listed on Vinted with size 14 labels were showing in the marketplace as size 20–22.
"If anyone [who is] size 20-22 buys them they may become frustrated," she explained.
Necessary Adjustments
Another shopper, located in England, explained she became annoyed because the modification necessitated personal updates the sizing for "all her products".
"Personally, this is quite irritating, as I'm chronically ill and selling on Vinted has been paramount following partial earnings loss," she explained.
Service Background
The platform boasts over 100 million shoppers, comprising 18 million UK members.
It has emerged as a preferred choice compared to resale services such as eBay and Depop.
This isn't the first time that an unexpected update within the service has received backlash: earlier, the platform withdrew an update concerning shipment methods due to shopper criticism.
