I cannot count on three years at Man Utd - Amorim

Ruben Amorim

The Manchester United coach - here being consoled post May's European final loss - states he is happy by Sir Jim Ratcliffe's long-term backing but underscored that what lies ahead is unknown in soccer.

Manchester United head coach the Portuguese coach thinks it is important Sir Jim Ratcliffe openly discussed his long-term thoughts - but states nothing is guaranteed about the future in the sport, never mind three seasons.

During a discussion with a leading newspaper recently, Sir Jim stated it might require Amorim three seasons to create substantial change at the Theatre of Dreams.

Arriving during a time when the manager's position has been under scrutiny in the wake of a lengthy stretch of unsatisfactory outcomes, the statements assisted in calming certain present tensions.

Yet, discussing prior to the hundredth encounter with historic adversaries the Reds at Anfield, Amorim emphasized how tomorrow is difficult to forecast in the beautiful game.

"It's certainly beneficial to receive that message but he communicates to me continuously, sometimes with a message following matches - but recognize, I'm aware and Ratcliffe understands, that soccer doesn't work that way," he stated.

"The vital factor is the upcoming match. Regardless of investors, you cannot control tomorrow in soccer."

Chief executive the club executive has conceded it has required much more time for the head coach to adapt to the top division subsequent to his appointment from Sporting Lisbon in November than any person expected.

Manchester United have achieved 10 times in 34 top-flight fixtures under the 40-year-old. They are yet to win consecutive league victories and didn't complete a fixture schedule this season higher than ninth.

The worrying figures are challenging confidence in Amorim among the United fanbase heading into a stretch of fixtures the side has performed poorly in for the previous two campaigns.

United's boss commented he does not feel the doubt within the organization at the club's Carrington training ground and is firm nothing can match the pressure he puts on the squad - and in certain ways, he would prefer Ratcliffe not to be trying to create tranquility because he fears the impact it could have on the squad.

"It isn't merely an item of conversation, I experience it every day," he remarked. "It's truly positive to listen to it because it assists our supporters to grasp the leadership understand it will require a while.

"However simultaneously, I dislike it because it gives a feeling that we own time to solve problems. I don't desire that feeling in our team.

"The expectation I apply to the team or upon myself is so much bigger [versus outside influences]. In the sport, specifically at large organizations, you must demonstrate your worth every weekend."
