Battlefield 6 Gamers Concur: Missions Are Excessively Difficult

The launch of the highly anticipated Battlefield 6 received significant enthusiasm, particularly for its premier multiplayer mode. Exclusively on Steam, live player figures reached a high of nearly 750,000. However, in spite of its success, an increasing amount of players are expressing frustration over several of the title's toughest challenges, which are mandatory to access certain guns.

Players have started resorting to tailored sessions made via Battlefield Portal to achieve these objectives, underscoring just how demanding these challenges have become.

Grasping BF6 Objectives

Tasks represent Battlefield 6's fixed in-game challenges, as opposed to the regularly refreshed everyday and weekly missions. There are four types of assignments, but while the majority simply offer outfits and select equipment, completing the weapon assignments is the sole method of obtaining a dozen out of forty-one main guns found within the game.

A number of these gated guns may soon find their way on rosters of the finest arms in Battlefield 6.

Player Outcry across Reddit

On Reddit, players are understandably expressing their worries about how hard and tedious some of these challenges are. An individual player highlighted one of the most outrageous examples, mandatory for acquiring the KTS100 MK8 LMG:

  • Subdue 300 opponents with LMGs
  • Cause 10,000 non-ADS damage with LMGs

"This mission is so terrible and entirely ill-conceived, I want to gouge my eyes out," is a quote that summarizes just how frustratingly difficult these tasks are.

The suppression mechanic in Battlefield is more diminished than before in the series, so it doesn't have anywhere near as many benefits in combat as it did in previous games. It only tallies as suppression if you fire a burst without hitting the target.

Meanwhile, hipfiring an LMG is extremely unreliable and is effective only at point-blank proximity, which is not usually a position you aim to be. The same user also noted the contradiction in the SMG challenge, to unlock the SCW-10, which demands eliminations when scoped in, when that challenge would be much better suited to hipfire kills, and vice versa.

Another Extremely Difficult Mission

Another Reddit user highlighted a further incredibly demanding challenge, this time in the long-range weapon type to unlock the PSR:

  • Get 150 headshot kills over 200m with sniper rifles

This is challenging enough on its own, but there's one more key thing to consider: most Battlefield 6 maps fail to facilitate combat at that kind of range.

There's a healthy variety of map sizes, but because there are just nine levels in the game at present, it means you're limited to playing a specific urban map, a particular valley environment, and maybe an additional option in a best-case scenario if you aim to take long-range shots from over 200m away.

The Alternative Method

However, there is a solution: Battlefield Portal. The custom game creator is a feature that enables you to design tailored experiences on the battleground of your choice, complete with bots. This allows you can bypass the intended method… but it doesn't really seem like the developer's vision.

But when tackling the tasks in a proper game seems counterproductive, since you have to play in such an unconventional way that offers no advantage to anyone, who can fault a player for completing them in a custom game so teammates aren't hindered?

Future Adjustments

It is expected if a number of these missions are adjusted to be less difficult in the next few updates, because if they're not, a portion of the user base simply won't get their hands on the restricted guns.

Currently, the player base continues to express their views on these strenuous in-game tasks, anticipating a less arduous player experience in subsequent patches.
