In a bizarre crossover event that breaks usual expectations, the game developer has revealed an in-game collaboration between Assassin's Creed Shadows and the renowned anime series Attack on Titan. The surprising Thanksgiving event runs from November 25 through December 22, offering complimentary extra story content for Shadows players.

Strange Mission Revealed

According to the formal release, "A strange encounter pulls heroes Naoe and Yasuke into a fresh quest, where whispers of prohibited ceremonies and monstrous changes resonate through the darkness." The narrative introduces a "oddly attired woman named Ada" who tasks the characters with traveling into the Crystalline Cavern—a significant location from Attack on Titan—to save her friend from a secret group.

The questline concentrates on "bizarre experiments and a fearsome adversary" and is open to all players who have acquired the Yasuke character.

Recognizable Locations and Metamorphoses

The trailer highlights the Subterranean Sanctuary from Attack on Titan reimagined as the Crystal Cave. This significant location was previously where the Reiss royal family passed down the Founding Titan ability through eras. The trailer ends with a striking scene showing a character, likely the prisoner, morphing into a Titan that looms over Naoe and Yasuke.

Special Rewards and Extra Features

Players who successfully complete the mission will receive an unique katana alongside several artifacts hidden throughout the area in hidden chests. The update also includes premium Attack on Titan item packs, including:

• Titan-inspired costume for Yasuke
• Mikasa attire for Naoe
• Unique arms
• Survey Corps mount

This patch also brings the game's third no-cost story episode, titled "The Mystery." This lighthearted quest partners Naoe and Yasuke as they trade characteristic skills: Naoe reveals a performative variation of Yasuke's war kick, while Yasuke masters subduing stealth takedowns. Faithful to its name, "The Mystery" also contains a original environmental puzzle that may eventually explain some lingering questions from the main storyline.

This represents scarcely the first time the Assassin's Creed franchise has collaborated with famous anime series. The series formerly showcased a 2020 collaborative story connecting Assassin's Creed: Valhalla with Makoto Yukimura's Vinland Saga.
