Alarming Video Shows Moment Law Enforcement Suffer Blade Attacks in Unexpected Assault
A senior officer who rushed to the aid of a partner who was ambushed by a knifeman received the Monarch's Honor for Bravery.
Sergeant Tim Ansell grappled with twenty-seven-year-old Jacob Brown following he held a blade to the neck of his fellow officer Sgt Marc Foster.
Brown initiated the assault as the law enforcement personnel and their colleague, PC Marcus Wolstencroft, were conversing to a motorist subsequent to a traffic accident in that location in July 2023.
Brown attacked with blade the two Sergeant Ansell and Sergeant Foster prior to PC Wolstencroft incapacitated him with a stun gun.
"Policeman knifed," PC Wolstencroft was heard to say over his radio.
Officer-mounted and dashcam recording shared by the force revealed Brown, wearing in dark clothing with a hood covering head, run up to Sergeant Foster from the rear with a knife pointed forward.
He struck the officer who stumbled and fell to the pavement, after which Sergeant Ansell stepped in and tried to wrestle him to the pavement even though being continually attacked with the blade.
Police Constable Wolstencroft drew his Taser and awaited a open target, concluding the struggle to an finish.
Sergeant Ansell stated audibly: "Can I get assistance on my neck now, I'm bleeding in the throat."
Sergeant Ansell sustained two deep cuts to his throat and further wounds to his limbs and body, whereas Sgt Foster experienced slash wounds.
Officials said Sergeant Foster employed his hands to stop his partner's bleeding before emergency responders reached the scene.
The new recognition comes subsequent to the trio of policemen received internal Courage Honors in October 2023 and the police federation award from the regional Police Federation in spring 2024.
They further earned a Area Courage Honor in mid-2024.
"The actions of all three officers ultimately rescued themselves and resulted in no bystanders suffered any wounds."
Brown was given to an indefinite hospital order in early 2024, according to officials.
